Press Release

I, Dianne Danti, am announcing my candidacy for City Council District 1 on Thursday, May 29, 2025, 4:45 pm at Barkman Library, Minnequa Works Credit Union Community Room, 1300 Jerry Murphy Rd.

During my retirement, I chose to live in Pueblo, a city I’ve come to love and call home. I have volunteered with several non-profits, boards, and commissions, deeply engaging with the community. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later moved to Dallas, Texas, where I met my husband Ken, who was born and raised here in Pueblo.

Throughout our careers, we have lived in Colorado Springs, Austin, Texas, and Ballston Lake, New York. My professional skills include attention to detail, organization, accounting, inventory management, and project management. My diverse experiences, living in various states and my professional background offer a unique perspective to the council.

I seek to be a counselor who genuinely represents their constituents, listens attentively, votes accordingly, and refrains from insulting or belittling anyone who speaks. I can fulfill that role by being professional, considerate, ethical, and non-combative, listening to my constituents, and collaborating with my colleagues.

I aim to reduce city expenses without eliminating programs by embracing cost-saving technologies. This includes implementing energy-efficient systems in public buildings.

I envision a designated safe environment for unhoused individuals, including couples, families with children, and families with dogs, that allows them to remain together in a secure and supportive setting. This location should be strategically situated to minimize disruption while ensuring access to essential services. It would provide critical amenities such as sanitation, shelter, and social services, fostering a more compassionate and organized response to homelessness.

Additionally, I am deeply committed to exploring methods to reduce crime, even though police resources are limited. Community-based initiatives, such as neighborhood watch programs and youth engagement projects, can significantly prevent crime by fostering trust and collaboration among residents. Investing in education, job training, and mental health services can also address the root causes of criminal behavior, providing long-term solutions beyond policing.

I am dedicated to accelerating and improving the infrastructure, including neighborhood roads, to enhance safety, accessibility, and quality of life for residents. Many neighborhood streets have deteriorated, leading to unsafe conditions and increased vehicle maintenance costs. We can create smoother, longer-lasting roads by prioritizing repairs, repaving, and better drainage systems. Upgraded infrastructure will support current needs and attract new investment and development, making our city more comfortable and convenient for all.

Furthermore, I aim to strengthen the Energy Commission’s capacity to oversee Black Hills Energy and rally community support for alternative energy providers by enhancing regulatory transparency, improving public engagement, and ensuring greater accountability. This effort includes equipping the commission with the necessary tools and data to thoroughly review utility practices and pricing structures. I strive to foster community involvement and promote fair oversight. Doing so can encourage innovation in the energy sector and reduce reliance on a single provider.

I support all development to be built by Union employees.

Please vote for Dianne Danti for City Council District 1
